Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Aestus Live is a Windows app that removes the background from a VTuber's stream or video and shows her on your screen. This policy explains what information the app and this website handle, especially if you connect your Google/YouTube or Twitch account.

In short: connecting YouTube or Twitch is optional. Data from those accounts is used only inside the app, on your computer, to show your name and import the channels you follow as favorites. It is never sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.

1. Who I am

Aestus Live is developed and operated by me, Álvaro, an independent developer based in Spain. You can contact me at alvaro@aestuslive.com.

2. Google and YouTube data

If you click "Login with YouTube", Aestus asks Google for permission to access:

How it is used. Your subscriptions are used only to import channels into your favorites, to recognize which of them are VTubers (using each channel's public description and keywords), and to tell you when they go live. Aestus never posts, edits, or deletes anything on your YouTube account.

Where it is stored. Your tokens, display name, and imported favorites are stored only on your computer. They are not uploaded to any Aestus server.

Sharing. I do not sell, rent, transfer, or disclose Google user data to anyone. I do not use it for advertising or to train AI or machine learning models, and no human reads it.

Google API Services User Data Policy. Aestus Live's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

YouTube API Services. Aestus uses YouTube API Services. By using Aestus with YouTube, you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Revoking access. Use Settings → Log out YouTube in the app to delete the stored YouTube tokens and profile from your computer. You can also revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Uninstalling the app and deleting its local data removes everything else, including imported favorites.

3. Twitch data

If you click "Login with Twitch", Aestus asks Twitch for read-only permission to access:

This data stays on your computer and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Settings → Log out Twitch deletes the stored Twitch token. You can also revoke access at twitch.tv/settings/connections.

4. Video and audio

Background removal runs locally on your graphics card. The streams and videos you watch are not recorded, saved, or uploaded.

5. Usage statistics (optional)

The first time you open Aestus, a separate, optional checkbox asks whether you want to send usage statistics. It is off unless you tick it, you can change it any time in Settings, and you can use Aestus either way. If you decline or turn it off, nothing is sent and the installation ID below is deleted.

If you allow it, the app sends usage events to a server I run, to help me improve it. Each event contains the event name (for example, that a session started or a filter was used), settings such as quality, session length, and two random identifiers: a session ID and an installation ID generated on your computer. Events never include the channels or videos you watch.

I do not link these identifiers to your name, email, or Google, YouTube, or Twitch account, and events never include your tokens, email, subscriptions, or profile data. However, the installation ID means events from the same installation may be linked to each other over time. Like any internet request, they also expose your IP address to my infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), which I do not use to identify you.

I may combine these events into totals (for example, the number of installations or sessions, or how often a feature is used) to understand how Aestus Live is doing, and I may share those totals publicly or with partners, investors, or prospective buyers. Totals never identify anyone and never include Google, YouTube, or Twitch data. I do not use usage events for advertising.

6. Website and beta waitlist

If you join the beta waitlist, I collect the email address you type and use it only to tell you about the beta and Aestus news. It is stored with Brevo, the email service I use for the waitlist. To be removed, write to alvaro@aestuslive.com. I do not sell or share waitlist emails for advertising.

7. Retention, legal basis, and your rights

Data on your computer stays there until you log out, delete the app's data, or uninstall. Waitlist emails are kept until you ask me to delete them or the beta ends. Usage events are kept only as long as they are useful to improve Aestus. Cloudflare and Brevo may process data outside the EU/EEA under their own safeguards.

For users in the EU/EEA and UK, the legal bases are: your request, when you connect an account and use its features; your consent, for usage statistics (which you can withdraw any time in Settings) and for the waitlist. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data and to object to its processing. Write to me and I will reply within a reasonable time. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Spain, the AEPD).

8. Children

Aestus Live is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. Changes

If I change this policy, I will update the date at the top. If a change affects how I use Google user data, I will ask for your consent again before applying it.
